Three years and 12,000 km through the Steppes of Genghis Khan Seemingly coming out of nowhere, the Mongols swept through much of Asia and parts of Europe under the brutal but brilliant leadership of Genghis Khan. Only a couple of hundred years later, they retreated back into the Steppes to be virtually forgotten for the next five hundred years.
