Did you know that our famous blue Police Box is one of only a dozen or so originals left in the UK? The box predates the era of police radio communication, so an officer would be alerted by a flashing light on the top of the box to contact the police station. Our box still has its flashing light and working phone, but was in need of a little TLC. Volunteer experts in Avoncroft’s National Telephone Kiosk Collection worked hard on this over the summer – please come and see the results!
