Undergraduate Neuroscience Program Undergraduate Neuroscience at Rochester Biological systems are composed of a variety of cell types, each performing highly specialized tasks. Neuroscience adopts a multidisciplinary approach to the study of nervous systems, and endeavors to understand how cells of this organ system function to generate and regulate behavior. Nerve cells perform some of the most complex tasks of the body, imparting behavioral and physiological individuality to an organism. Accordingly, some of the most debilitating diseases known are associated with a failure in the function of these cells.
