Emmanuel College - Teaching & Research - The Library The Undergraduate Library at Emmanuel College is operated by the Charity for Emmanuel College Library (CECL). The College Library is open to members of Emmanuel College. It is open to visitors by appointment only. The Undergraduate Library contains ca. 60,000 books. This includes a Short-Loan collection of clinical and medical science books, a reference collection, and a collection of reserve books. The Special Collections include both manuscripts and early printed books. A small number of early printed books were presented to the College Library by the Founder Sir Walter Mildmay. There are in addition two large named Special Collections, the Sancroft Library and the Graham Watson Collection. The Sancroft Library comprises the collection of books given to the College by Archbishop William Sancroft, a former seventeenth century Master, The Graham Watson Collection is a collection of hand- coloured plate books mainly dating from the nineteenth century, and given by an Old Member of the College Graham Watson. This collection is housed in magnificent glass fronted book cases which were also presented to the College by Graham Watson.
