Description: Carolyn McIntyre is traveling from the Moroccan City of Tangiers through 46 countries as she attempts to recreate an epic journey made 700 years ago by the famed Islamic scholar and traveler Ibn Battuta.
The Zayandeh river in Isfahan has completely dried up in a combination of damming the river upstream for irrigation and lack of rain at the end of the dry season. It is a forlorn scene, the river no longer reflects the beauty of the city's bridges which now straddle a field across which people now walk. The bridges have lost their purpose. Â
