Since 1979, many Scouts in the Cimarron Council have chosen to spend their spring break backpacking in the Ouachita National Forest. Scouts annually spend four to five days trekking across the Ouachita Wilderness in what has become the HIGH ADVENTURE event for the Cimarron Council. This event, developed over the past quarter century by scouters in the Stillwater area, is open to ALL Boy Scouts, Varsity Team Members, and Venture Crew Members who meet the age and physical condition requirements. Trek requires that first-time trekkers attend a backpacking shakedown.
