Camp Haynes of the South Plains Council, BSA Camp Haynes is a true wilderness camp designed for the more rugged Scout. Haynes Scout Camp is located east of Silverton, Texas, at the foot of a canyon. The camp was acquired in August of 1941.  This camp was given by the late John Haynes in memory of his mother. It included 80 acres of land and was located 10 miles east and a little north of Silverton, Texas. Weekend Camping at Haynes Scout Camp is ideal. The wilderness setting is unspoiled with permanent strucutures. Campers need to bring their own water supply. The entry road  is extremely rough and sometimes will require Scouts to hike in to camp.
