Fire Destroys Wildlife Viewing Building at Mines of Spain Fire destroyed the Wildlife Viewing Blind at the Mines of Spain Recreation Area, Thursday, February 13. The Wildlife Viewing Blind was located at the Horseshoe Bluff Interpretive Area south of the Julien Dubuque Monument. The blind was totally destroyed due to an unknown fire sometime between the hours 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm Thursday evening. The exact time that the fire started is unknown at this time. The fire was called in by a park visitor at 7:44 pm. Key West Fire responded to the scene. The structure was already destroyed when they arrived. The Mines of Spain Park Staff is seeking information and asking anyone that may have information in regards to the fire to contact them.
