Restoration Projects: NoobowSystems Lab. When first appeared in early 1941 with its sensational $19.95 price tag, EC-1 was a general purpose shortwave receiver everyone could afford. In late 1941, EC-1 advertisement on QST changed to the famous "Hoggarth" series; EC-1 started to serve as military entertainment. Then on the next month, a word "National Emergency" was replaced by a word "War".
