AKC Registered and Inspected Kennel Welcome to our website and thank you for taking the time to visit us and our dogs. Takari Kennels is owned by Tari and Karl Hafner. It is located just south of Fulton, NY below Lake Ontario. Dogs have always been part of both of our lives so it was natural to become involved with them as time went by. Karl is an avid backpacker and part of the reason our first dog was a Bernese was so that he would have a backpacking buddy to go with him. Bernese are what started this passion for dogs in our lives. After 25 years of breeding and showing Bernese though, the time has come to move on to smaller dogs. The Bernese will remain in our hearts but not in our kennel. Tari has been a member of the BMDCA (Bernese Mountain Dog Club of America) since 1988. She chaired the National Specialty in 2005. To date, this is the largest specialty show the BMDCA has ever had.
