Milburn Working Kelpie Stud is run by Michael and Linda Johnston. The Milburn Stud is home to some of the best Yard & Utility Trial Kelpies of the last decade. Two of these, Noonbarra Butch and Milburn Basil have both won the biggest Yard Sheepdog Trial in the country - The Australian National Yard Open Championship. Noonbarra Butch was Australian Champion for 1992 and Milburn Basil was Australian Champion for 1997. Both of these sires have also won the NSW State Title as well as a host of other major Championship titles and placings. Milburn Basil was named Yard dog of the year for three straight years. 1997 - 1998 - 1999. Michael Johnston was also awarded the Top Yard Dog Handler for 1999.
