I began my love for Great Danes in the early 1980's when I purchased my first merle female.I had no idea of showing so color did not matter. She was out of Meistersinger bloodlines and was a very nice pet. I then did some research on the breed and decided I wanted a fawn male. I found a breeder, Donna Wright in Indiana and bought him on the condition I would show him. We attended match shows and I was bitten by the show bug. Deacon the big fawn dog soon came down with OCD of both shoulders which I believe I caused through over nutrition. He never made it in the ring again.
