Description: The Orange County, CA chapter of IPMS. Promoting scale modeling of all types. Articles, photo galleries, and resource links.
Joe was born in the Jackson Heights section of Queens, NY and was raised in Amityville, Long Island (yes, that Amityville). As a young boy in the late 50’s, he remembers walking to the local drug store and purchasing the latest Aurora Famous Fighter WWI biplane for 98 cents. He has always been interested in World War One aviation. After graduating from HS, he enlisted in the Air Force and spent a tour of Duty in Vietnam during the Vietnam War. Joe was married to his wife Linda upon returning, in 1971. Taking advantage of the GI Bill, Joe enrolled at Southwestern Bible College in Phoenix in 1972, graduating with a B.A. in 1976. He pastored his first church in 1973, and has been the Senior Pastor of Temple Baptist Church in Fullerton since 1981. His education includes a Masters in Old Testament and Semitics from Biola’s Talbot Seminary, and a Ph.D. in Ancient Near Eastern History from Newport University. It wasn’t until the winter of 2005 that Joe returned to modeling, and again, World War One biplanes. As a break from World War One aircraft, Joe also enjoys modeling Armor (especially WWI Armor). Joe became a member of IPMS/OC in 2009 and has rarely missed a meeting since. 2013 marks the fourth year in a row that he has amassed enough points to be declared our club’s Modeler of the Year. In the summer of 2013, he also took on the duties of our club’s Webmaster, a task he also enjoys and one in which he feels he can contribute something important to IPMS/OC. Joe also maintains his own website for World War One modeling. If you would like to see it, go to
