Munari Wines 2006 The Beauregard Shiraz A lot has been written about shiraz from Heathcote these days. Standards vary in this emerging region, but the best wines justify all the excitement. This example, from the unfussy little Munari winery nest to the main highway, sits at the finer end of the Heathcote scale (some regional reds are truly formidable blockbusters) but it still has plenty of intensity. Floral notes add dimension to a core of dark berry, spice and black chocolate characters, the texture is seamless, balance is impeccable, fine tannins and a lingering, fragrant finish hold it together. A first class Heathcote shiraz.
