Bob Hewitt's (Misterfixit's) Autorepair Page On December 24 2012, in the town of Webster NY, a lunatic set his house on fire at 5:30 in the morning then hid on a small hill a few yards away and waited for the first responders to arrive to extinguish the flames. He open fire on them and killed two firemen wounding two others using a semi-automatic Bushmaster rifle. A Webster police officer, Mark Reed, who had responded to the scene grabbed his rifle from the patrol car, hid behind a nearby house and returned fire at the gunman who immediately stopped shooting and retreated from his position, being chased then by Officer Reed and other Webster police officers. Without the quick actions of officer Reed the gunman would have killed many more firemen with his semi-automatic Bushmaster weapon, a shotgun and a handgun which he had in his possession. I have nominated officer Reed for the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest honor a civilian can receive in the USA.
