The Nene (Branta Sandwicensis) is Hawaii's state bird. Similar to the Canada Goose, the Nene is about 24 inches long, the Canada being larger at 30 inches. The head is black with buff cheeks and neck. The voice is also similar to the Canada goose, the most recognizable sound being a loud honk.
