Chef Tack Bower was born in Mobile, Alabama, lived and grew up just north of Dauphin Island, AL He left Mobile in 1975 to pursue a career in Culinary Arts. He attended the Southeast Institute of Culinary Arts in St. Augustine, FL. After graduating, he worked in various positions in the food service industry. In 1983, he returned to St. Augustine to teach at the culinary school. About this time he started making TackSauce for himself and his friends. In the last 20 years, TackSauce has evolved to what it is today a flavorful hot sauce with a sweet start and a fiery finish. The American Culinary Federation in 1987 certified Chef Tack as a Certified Culinary Educator.Â
