Description: Information on the Department, the Hauppauge Fire District, community and public resources. Located in Suffolk County.
Structure Fire - Rose Street - 01-01-2011 at 2104 Hrs. The Hauppauge Fire Department was dispatched to a reported attached garage fire. First arriving Chief of Department Raymond Germaine found that all occupants had evacuated uninjured and that there was a rapidly spreading fire from the garage into the rest of the residence. Engines 3-8-11, 3-8-14, 3-8-3, 3-8-13, 3-8-4, ladder 3-8-7 & Heavy Rescue 3-8-9 operated at this incident assisted by the fire police 3-8-10. Chief Germaine was aided by Assistant Chief Officers Kenneth Furuno and Assistant Chief Eugene Oliver. One firefighter sustained a minor injury to a knee. The Islip Town Fire marshal was on the scene. Fire was of accidental origin originating in the garage. Cooking was being conducted in the garage area and left unattended which led to this fire that seriously damaged this residence and a parked automobile. Many thanks to Smithtown Fire Department for providing an additional Engine with manpower for relief and to the Nesconset Fire Department for providing a RIT/Fast Team. An additional thanks goes to Commack fire Department for providing men and equipment to cover Hauppauge Fire District for the duration of the incident. And a thanks to the Central Islip-Hauppauge Ambulance Company for standing by at this incident and monitoring firefighting personnel and later transported the injured firefighter to the hospital.
