Grand Lakes Fire & Rescue The Grand Lakes Fire Protection District, located in Grand Rivers, Kentucky, is positioned in the southern end of Livingston County. We border Land Between the Lakes, a U.S. Forest Service area that encompasses one hundred and seventy thousand acres of forest. The population of our service area is approximately 4,000 people during the winter months and grows to almost 10,000 during the summer. The increase in population is due to the two large lakes bordering our community - Kentucky Lake and Lake Barkley. We have over 1 million visitors pass through our area each year that use the Land Between the Lakes area for fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, swimming, boating and skiing activities. The Grand Lakes Fire Department consists of five paid professionals with seventeen part-time paid personnel that operate out of three stations. We average 200-250 calls per year.
