The Boston Cat Hospital - Boston - MA - Feline Veterinary Practice - Kitten Health Care - 3840 Washington Street, Jamaica Plain, MA 02130 Cookie first appeared at The Boston Cat Hospital in 1998 as a stray someone found wandering the streets. She was about 7 months old with matted fur, 6 toes on each foot, and completely uncoordinated. It eventually became clear that she had severe cerebellar hypoplasia - a birth defect in which the cerebellum, the part of the brain controlling coordination, had not fully developed. She "flopped" rather than walked, and had persistent tremors, except when at rest. Despite this condition she was a very intelligent, strong-willed cat. She boarded with us at the BCH often, knew where her cage was, and would make her way back to it when let out of her carrier at the front desk. She had definite likes and dislikes, and, like the stereotypical tortie, wasn't shy about making them known.
