Mira the Wonderful, another tale to tell. Mira meaning Wonderful, in the constellation Cetus the Whale, is a long-period variable star known from ancient times. Recent ultra-violet images taken by the GALEX space telescope show Mira on the right with a tail trailing to the left 13 light-years long! This is three times the distance between the Sun and Proxima Centuri, our nearest star, a truly phenomenal distance for a structure produced by a single star.
