other VNC viewers and servers see the !VNC will allow your Acorn computer to connect to PCs and Unix desktops via a network, add a network file system like NFS, Omniclient or smbclient or the like and you have complete access to the machine and you won't be sitting in front of it. I have a more recent build of smbclient available if anyone is interested, I've not got around to releasing it yet.
