STFX: Generating Special Film Effects Using Spatio-Temporal Volume Processing Generating Special Film Effects using Spatio-Temporal Volume Processing This thesis describes a project to investigate the generation of novel special film effects using spatio-temporal volume processing. An algorithm for generating special effects was developed and implemented within a special toolkit, called S-TFX. This toolkit was used to successfully generate an extensive collection of novel special effects. Some of these effects include taking an arbitrary cross-section of the video sequence, forcing a particular object in the scene to stop moving and changing the direction that an object moves in without disturbing other objects in the scene.
