The Annual Berkeley Programming Contest Berkeley Blue Wins the 2013 ACM Pacific Northwest Regional Contest! On Saturday, 2 November 2013, the Berkeley Blue programming team--- Lewin Gan, Biye Jiang, and Yan Duan---won the ACM Northwest Pacific Regional Contest, advancing to the contest finals in June, 2014. The team solved 10 of the 13 problems posed in the 5-hour contest, beating out strong teams from Stanford, the Unversity of British Columbia, Simon Fraser University, and the University of Washington. Our other teams each solved 6 problems: Berkeley Gold (Chen-Hsi Bi, Preetum Nakkiran, and Jing-Lun Gao) placed 12th, the Berkeley Bears (Jingyan Wang, Pierre Karashchuk, and Zongheng Yang) placed 14th, and the Berkeley Radicals (Raphael Townshend, Joseph Hui, and Evan Ye) placed 18th. In a striking example of history repeating itself, the Bears edged out another Stanford team, the Stanford Band. The ACM Collegiate Programming Contest Finals will take place at the Ural Federal University in Ekaterinburg, Russia from June 22 through June 26, 2014.
