Wanda J. Orlikowski is the Eaton-Peabody Professor of Communication Sciences at MIT, and Professor of Information Technologies and Organization Studies at MIT's Sloan School of Management. Her research focuses primarily on the sociological aspects of technology and work. She is particularly interested in the dynamic relations between information technologies and organizations over time, with emphases on organizing structures, cultural norms, communication genres, and work practices. She recently led a multi-year project (funded by the National Science Foundation) on the social and economic implications of Internet technologies in organizations. She is currently examining the sociomaterial entailments of distributed collaboration.
