Community Bankers of West Virginia Government and Banking Contacts 101 N. Kanawha Street Suite 201 Beckley, WV 25801 Dear West Virginia Community Bankers and Friends: Welcome to the Community Bankers of West Virginia home page. I am honored to be the current President of the CBWV. I have been an active Association member for over 10 years, and this is my second tenure as President. My involvement with CBWV has been and continues to be extremely rewarding, both personally and professionally. West Virginia is blessed to have an outstanding array of community bankers, from all corners of the state and everywhere in between. These bankers are passionate about community banking, and about making a difference in the communities they serve. They understand what a community bank is about, and the responsibility that goes with being a community banker. Here in West Virginia, it sometimes seems we are a million miles away from Wall Street and Washington DC. Yet what goes on in those places affects us all. In addition to bankers who are passionate about their banks and communities, our CBWV bankers are also avid promoters of the community banking industry. We have a diverse group of engaged bankers who represent the industry at both the state and Federal levels, through participation in various boards and committees established by CBWV and our national trade group, the ICBA. I encourage every community banker to get involved, as advocacy is what will distinguish community banking from Wall Street. One way to get involved is by attending the annual ICBA Washington Summit in the spring. Our attendance by CBWV members at this event has been growing by leaps and bounds. And, as West Virginia has two key legislators as members of their respective Banking Committees, CBWV members have a unique opportunity to enhance the stature of community banking in the eyes of Congress. If you’re interested in becoming involved in or knowing more about the ICBA Summit, please ask me, Executive Director Donna Tanner, or State ICBA Boa
