IRM started its operation in the year 1980 as a trading company specializing in non-ferrous metal and plastic materials as well as in recycling of plastic waste. With the difficulties inherent in transporting scrap materials from Malaysia to other countries, especially to adhere to the Basel Convention and other protocols, IRM has decided to put up a central processing facility and bring its expertise to where it is required; close to the major center of the Malaysian semiconductor and electronic industries. As a result of this, IRM Industries Sdn. Bhd. was incorporated on 7th April 1984.
