In 1993 my dream started becoming a reality. We bought our land, which was very heavily wooded, and started clearing. We built our home in 1998 and after 28 years of city living, we moved in on Christmas day. We wanted to raise some kind of livestock, but didn’t know what – cows, horses, pigs or goats. Our neighbors told us that whatever we raised, we would need a donkey or two to keep the coyotes away. After studying and visiting donkey ranches, we decided to just raise donkeys.  By mid 1999, we had five standard jennies from the Mojave Desert and four miniatures and thought we were in donkey heaven.
