Description: Producers of Benemite: natural enemies for management of spider-mites in greenhouses, field crops, fruit and nut trees and home gardens.
Spider mites and their control with predators Augmentative Biological Controls (ABC) The two-spotted spider mite is smaller than a pinhead. It feeds on plant leaves causing tiny white spots to appear on the leaves. They also spin a fine webbing over and around the leaves which may look like fine spider web. When they build up to high numbers they can damage the plant or actually kill it. The two-spotted mite is not the only web-spinning mite to feed on plants, but it is the most common. Outbreaks of spider mites often occur when the weather is hot and dry because the mite can lay more eggs under these conditions. Hot greenhouses and dry interior plantscapes are very favorable environments for spider mites. Some field crops are also vulnerable to mite attack. Strawberry fields, grape vineyards, almond orchards, apple orchards and mint fields are often attacked by spider-mites.
