CFJC TV - Kamloops' Very Own Monday, February 17th, 2014 | 6:16pm PST Ken Lepin is Thompson Rivers University's multi-million dollar man. At last night's TRU Foundation Gala, the retired Kamloops businessman and philanthropist announced his donation of $2.25 million dollars to the institution. Lepin's overall donations to TRU to this point add up to 2.5 million dollars.The one time gift of this magnitude, however, is unprecedented. He says he wants to make TRU the best school it can be, and to recognize those he worked with over 50 years of building, living and succeeding in Kamloops. "A lot of people helped me over the years, from bank managers to trades people, and this gift is a thank you to the people of the city of Kamloops. It's my hope that this will help educate their children, their grandchildren, their great-grandchildren and future generations. It will have a lasting impact." The money could be a game changer for the university, and officials are delighted. We can't publish what expletive Lepin says was uttered when he initially revealed the amount he was gifting, but the Kamloops resident says his donation was greeted with stunned disbelief.
