Description: A drama group for people between 11 and 18, serving Chesham, Buckinghamshire and the surrounding area. The group has weekly meetings and two main shows a year, and also offers workshops and theatre trips.
Chesham Youth Theatre has been forced to close. We were always reliant on adult volunteers and the enthusiasm of our members to keep the youth theatre going. Sadly, following the departure of our previous Chairman, no other volunteers were forthcoming to supervise meeting and run workshops. Geoff Mendoza, who has been heavily involved in the running of CYT since the '70s, being unable to keep up the running of the group single handedly, was reluctantly forced to disband it. I am sure I speak for very many people who were part of CYT over the decades in expressing my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Geoff for all his time and work. CYT was a group where many have felt able to belong over a long period of time and the willingness of members, such as myself, to contribute to the running of the group over that time is testament to its importance to them.
