Description: Hand-made whistles in chrome, copper, stainless steel, and wood. Keys range from low D to soprano D, although not all keys are available in each material. Prices range from £27.50-75.
I have been making and playing wooden whistles for about 15 years. All my instruments are hand-made and each one is as individual as the player. The instruments are made from native woods such as Hawthorn, Holly, Elder, Beech, Yew and Cherry, but largely dependant on what I can find in the hedges! Exotics like Boxwood, Cocobolo, Rosewood, Lignum Vitae and African Blackwood are also available. Each instrument is as unique as the wood it is crafted from and they have a simple, classic design with fipples are either aluminium or wood. If and when I can get hold of it, I like to use wood that has a bit of history, old beams, furniture and so on, this gives old wood a new purpose and gives the whistles a bit more character.
