Description: An American Recorder Society affiliated chapter consisting of a group of music-loving recorder players of all ages and levels, ranging from beginner to advanced.
Welcome to the official web site of the Recorder Society of Long Island, Inc. We are an ARS (American Recorder Society)-affiliated chapter. RSLI consists of a group of music-loving recorder players of all ages and levels, ranging from beginner to advanced. Our mentoring system aids those who are feeling a little "rusty" on their instruments. Our playing sessions take place (mostly) on the second Saturday of the month. We gather at 9:30AM for coffee and conversation and play from 10:00AM-12:30PM. During our break, at 11:15, we partake of delicious treats made by our members. Each month features a different and gifted guest conductor. Our musical director is Rachel Begley, a professional recorder artist, who holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in recorder and early music from SUNY, Stony Brook.
