| Description: | The Manchester Regional Police and Fire Pipe Band (MRPF), is the premier pipe band of eastern Connecticut. Established in 1953, the band was patterned after the fashion of the great Scottish military regiments and continues these traditions by wearing a military-style uniform and sporting the Hunting Stewart tartan. MRPF keeps a rigorous paraded schedule throughout the year and regularly attends memorial services for both police officers and firefighters. The band has gained recognition for performing with such names as Black 47, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers, and recently participating in Tattoos both in Switzerland and Germany. MRPF maintains an active year-round training program and the expansion of the competition unit. Persons interested in joining the band or learning the pipes and drums may apply any time. |
