He studied piano with Norma Crawford, and whilst still at school, studied the organ with Nicholas Danby at the Guildhall School of Music. He later went on to study the harpsichord with Michael Freyhan, Michael Thomas and Virginia Pleasants in England, as well as with Igor Kipnis in the U. S. A.
