Humuhumunukunukuapua'a is the nuttiest all-ukulele band to come about in many years. The seeds of Humu were sprouted in March, 1990 during Mardi Gras in a sparse apartment on Napoleon Ave. in New Orleans. Six people, one ukulele, and a whole lot of beads and booze were the primary ingredients. It all began with multiple verses of "Bile dem Cabbage Down"--a classic tune in the cabbage genre. Not content with that, the early Humus added their own words and the result was "Bile Tom Heibel Down"--a new classic tune in the cabbage genre.
