Our parents' generation had it better and easier than we do. Much of western culture today is derivative and boring. There's almost nothing that's still original. Everything has already been done. Yes in the last few years there's been a few technological advances, computers get faster and more efficient. There's medical advances, advances that most now can't afford anyway. Face it. The overwhelming tide has turned, and it's going down, down down. One hundred years ago the inventions being made - the telephone, electricity, the car, the airplane - were revolutionizing and changing the way people live. Today's inventions - faster computers and software changes - hybrid cars & cel phones - do nothing to revolutionize or make people's lives better. They mostly make the quality of most people's lives
