Description: A description with examples of an expansion of the Kyrielle by adding a final couplet consisting of the first line and the refrain. From a larger site called "The Poets Garret" hosted by Terry Clitheroe.
Once a very popular French form dating from the middle ages. It is written in quatrains (four lines of poetry), which includes a refrain (repeat line, phrase, or word) and as is normal with French poetry it is octosyllabic (eight syllables) to make up a quatrain rhyming:
