"A Brother's Touch" . When originally published in 1982 the first novel won a favorable review in The New York Times--the first mass market paperback critiqued in the influential daily, and at the time one of very few gay-themed novels reviewed in the mainstream media. The national publicity sent books flying out of stores and into a successive printing. The day the Times review ran the book literally sold out around the country. Besides the U.S., the book sold well internationally, especially in Germany, Great Britain, Canada and the Netherlands.
