David  Fry has been making studio pottery for over 35 years, and is now one of the UK’s leading ceramic artists. His studio is based in Newcastle-upon-Tyne in North East England.  The aim of his work is to produce beautiful objects that can be used for display or the table. His method of working and the nature of the kiln firing makes every piece  a unique  work. His  inspiration comes from the glazes and ideas and simple forms of the early ceramics from Japan, China and Korea, together with a love of English Mediaeval pottery. He has spent many years studying and working out recipes for the ancient oriental glazes to which he added his own intuition to increase their depth and beauty, achieving layers of colour within colour. He has developed a unique range of  Flambe’, Chun, Jun, Wood Ash, Copper Red, Lang-Yao, Shino and Iron glazes, produced in high fired Stoneware.  For further  information on the glazes see the
