Black Wave is the original home of the tribal tattoo. Founder Leo Zulueta is widely credited with popularizing tribal-style tattooing in the United States. Leo's protege and current owner Su'a Sulu'ape FreeWind is known for his culturally correct tribal design as well as contemporary neo-tribal. As the adopted son and student of Su'a Sulu'ape Petelo of Samoa, he also specializes in traditional tatau using Polynesian, Indonesian and Native American hand tools, as well as modern machine tattooing. All our artists are skilled in tribal, black-and-gray and colorwork.
